18 Oct Case Study: Nueve Hot Peppers, a Longmont, Colorado product
The Client
Nueve Hot Peppers is a small-scale hot pepper grower in Longmont, Colorado. The name ‘Nueve Hot Peppers’ comes from the nine pepper variations used in the majority of the grower’s recipes. Nueve Hot Peppers is preparing to share their pepper-based sauces, condiments, and seasonings with fellow growers and local farmers’ market patrons.
Nueve’s products boast some of the hottest peppers in the world — Ghost Peppers, Carolina Reapers, and Death Spirals; however, their mission isn’t to blow your top off every time you take a bite, but instead, provide flavorful ingredients to add to your own dinner table.
In order to share this mission, they’ve reached out to Yore Brands to develop an upscale brand that steers clear of exaggerated, cartoon images of bombs, melting faces, or hell fire.
The Gig
In this paragraph, we’ll explore some of the decision making for the final logo.
Due to the fact that the client distributes its products in mason jars, a stylized seal seemed appropriate for lid stickers and jar labels. After a brief interview with Nueve Hot Peppers, the following traits were identified.
- simple and clean
- colorful
- easy to fit on packaging
- visibility on various backdrops
- ‘feel free to use images of peppers, but focus on a brand, rather than a pepper’
The following images progress concepts from sketch pad to final vectored art.

The Deliverables
In conclusion, Nueve Hot Peppers received copies of all design files and finished logos from the brand development:
- Vectored art (.ai, .eps)
- Black and white versions (.png, .jpg)
- Full color variations (.png, .jpg)
- Basic color guideline
- Product mock up (.psd)

What’s Next?
Looking forward, the first batch of Nueve products to receive the new logo will be assembled at the start of the new year. Be sure to follow Yore Brands on social media or subscribe to the blog in order to follow this project.
Nueve Hot Peppers has also commissioned Yore Brands to develop a four piece product line highlighting the organization’s hot sauce. The theme of this series will revolve around the owner’s love for David Lynch cinema.
This should be fun. More to come.
